why does the author spend so much time letting us get to know tessie only to have her die at the end of the story?

Mrs.Tessie ,heir about this "LOTTERY" the is going on in the Town Squart. So she thinks the she should try it out because she could it win.... But she not the only one the is go to try it out because everybody the live in the town heir about it and want to go to the special lottery. One thing this is nuffin new every year they do this event about the LOTTERY the goes on every year.But some people dont know what is it about if it is the ,they going to win a car , money or something like that. Pero is not like that at all... Will the author want it us to get to know Mrs.Tessie because she is the main character in the story ,because she the one the is going to winn... the lottery. But somethings is not good because in this situation if you win the lottery you get kill to death with stones. So Mrs.Tessie was the one the win the lottery in evrybody the was there in the lottery was throwing stones at Mrs.Tessie in one of the stones hit her in her head and kill her...... Anyways i still dont understand why they have to do this every year because at one point they would forget that but st the sametime you had to leave with that the rest of your life and for me thats a very bad thing because you would never know went it would be your turn...... I also wonder what would happen if the nex year went they do the lottery they dont used stones but use something alse. If they had another story about the lottery i would love to read it because is it very intresting... I wonder what would happen nex...
