the lottery

In a small town of about 300 people , the lottery is played every year. The lottery starts on June 25th and ends on June 27th. A guy by the name of Mr.summers conducted the lottery. In many other places they got rid of the lottery, but for some reason they didn’t get rid of it in this town. Before the llottery took place , Mr.Summers set up a pile of stones in the corner. Everybody had to write their name down on a white piece of paper , and it was put into a black box. Just as everybody sat around and was about to get the names drawn , Mrs.Hutchinson came late. Everybody picks a name out , and which ever family last name is on the paper , they have to get their whole household family and they all have to pick another piece of paper from another box. When the Hutchinson’s got chosen, Tessie kept going on about how it wasn’t fair and they didn’t have enough time to choose correctly. However, Mr and Mrs.Hutchinson and their 3 kids still had to pick a paper. Everybody picked a paper. Dave’s paper was blank, Nancy’s paper was blank, Dave Jr. paper was blank , and Mr. Hutchinson’s paper was blank. Mrs.Hutchinson’s paper had a gray dot marked by a pencil. She was the winner of the lottery. Everybody in the town gathered up the biggest rocks they could find and stoned mrs.hutchinson to death while she tried to plea and plea that it wasn’t fair. It wasn’t.
