"The Lottery"

Our class read a story this week about traditions. Some of these traditions are good While others are bad, and can be very harmfull. I am going to reinact the story in my own words useing other names.

In a tribe in a small town out in the middle of no ware, there is this thing called the lottery that everyone around there do. This lottery is a gathering of many many people. infact the hole town participates in this. The children of the town are in charge of gathering the flat sharp nice clear rocks. It was the day of the lottery and everyone was there at 1 except one person. Deric hines, they called and no awnser. Then continued calling names than finaly at 3 right before the drawing deric shows up; He runns up and signes in.This name was drawn out of a black box. This black box was one of the 3 known boxes passed from generation to generation to continue with the stoning. About 10 minutes past, than the name was called. This name was derics. Deric started crying as people started throughing these rocks the children collected and soon deric was dead. Everyone after that point continued with therer life eventhough they just stoned someone to death and than the next year they started all over again. Heres when we ask why do we participate in these so called traditions if they can be harmfull?
