A shorter version of the story from the way i would look at it is.
Once a year a small town of people joins this contest where they pick a lottery ticket and they waited for someone to win once someone some people waited while the person who won the lottery was walking by herself then they trow stons at her and they had a big pile of stones. they ened up killing her.
