"The Lottery"
The Lottery is a short story about a lottery thats happens every year on June 27th. This lottery isn't like any normal lottery and it only takes two hours to choose the winner. All the people in an anonymous village names were put into a black box they describe the black box as old but they still manage to try their best to keep it safe. To keep it safe they put it in different places so it wont get harmed. At the end of the lottery every person in the anonymous village will have a paper with thier name on it but only one person will have a mark by their name. The person with the mark is the person that will be the winner. These people in this village do this lottery as a tradition. Everyone in the village is excited and wants to be the winner until they find out that the winner gets stoned to death by the other villagers so really they aren't winners they should actually be called losers. At the end of the story one of the characters Mrs. Hutchinson is choosen to be the winner she was excited at first but once she found out about her prize she complained about how unfair it was. Through out the story the author really kept the winner of the "prize" a mystery I had no idea that she would be the one with the mark by her name. The author brought this character in the story little by little giving us more and more details about her. It was almost like we knew Mrs. Hutchinson the most.
