lottery

To sum up what I read yesterday, I would say basically it was like a lottery except you dont win money. Instead you get a number and wait to be called, and you die if your number comes out the box. The box has been around for years, and despite the fact that some traditions are harmful it keeps getting passed down. To me it was all planned out because of the way she reacted in the story I could already tell that instead of money it wouldve something else. I guess because its a small town they decided to come up with that tradition years ago. I mean there has to be a very good reason as to why but thats something thats not said in the story. In my opinion I really didnt like the story because it didnt grab my attention. Than again others opinion may be different. Also in the story it was said that they cheated because her number wasnt really supppose to get called out, but for some odd reason the towns people really didnt seem to care if it was fair or not. Seems as if they were distracted to what was going on or was too into it that didnt see what really happended. Maybe in their tradition someone has to die wether its fair or not. Traditions that do harm to people in my opinion shouldnt be done at all because Im sure the crowd wouldnt like if it was someone they knew or themselves. They were to selffish to realize that what they were doing was wrong.
