The story "Lottery" was about a lady named Mrs. Hutchinson who was robust and different from the others in her village. One day every year her village does a "lottery" where papers are put into a box and children pile rocks in the center of the square. On this day the villagers gather around in the center of the square and each pick a paper out, but there was a catch to this lottery. Mrs.Hutchinson went to the square but it was very obvious that she was late because she was loud and knew what the drawing was for. Mrs. Hutchinson is like this throughout the story so that you can get a sense of understanding of who she is and have some type of sympathy or connection with her. At the square after Hutchinson showed up, the villagers began picking there share of the papers each anxiously looking for a specific mark. Mrs. Hutchinson drew hers and on her paper appeared a black dot. This dot , to the villagers, meant death. Mrs. Hutchinson and her husband automatically argued on how it wasn't fair that she was late and drew last. But the villagers went on and ignored them; the children and villagers grabbed the rocks and each threw them at Mrs. Hutchinson killing her. This made everyone else safe until the following year.
