Freedom

In this book freedom is a very important theme. This theme enters the text in allot of different places and is extremely important through your read. There are two main times it enters the text that I will be talking about, and explaining.
The first time it enters the text is in the beginning when he decides to write in this book. He writes with extreme accuracy, and try's to minimize mistakes. He also decides to wait to shut the book right away because he is scared it will smear the writing and ruin the book. When he describes the book he explains that it is a beautiful, smooth, with silk like paper. I feel this is because this book is very important to him. In the book, as I read I found that this book is like a sign of freedom for him. He can think freely and write anything his heart desires. This in his culture was agenst the law, or as they say agenst big brother. The reason I relate this to freedom is because to Winston it is his only freedom.
The second part I feel the theme freedom enters the text is when he decides to meet up with Julia in the square. I feel this was a sign of freedom because Winston decides to go agenst the rules and meet up with her anyway. In his culture this is wrong because in this part of the book he has feeling for her and big brother says you’re not allowed to have feelings.
This is the most important theme of the book, by far and two times I know it shows up in the text.
