Why do people need myths?

The reason why people wanna belive in myths is because they want to belive that it is real and not fake. Like the jersey devil everyone talks about it and they dont got prove that it is real or fake. Like if it was me i dont belive in anything till i have the prove to see it/show it to people. Like another example i dont belive in ghost i never saw one before but i will belive in it once i see it. Even though I see it on the movies and shows it doesnt mean that it is real. There are so many myths out there that people belive in even though it may not be real. People just start beliving in it because other people talk about it and they just play along. There are even myths on how we came from monkeys. No one knows how we became or evolved.
