Close reading

I think close reading is an important skill for college, because it can help you comprehend better. I believe that close reading helps you understand the text better. It makes you get an understading of what the author is saying. When you make notes on the text it can help you answer questions that may be giving to you at the end of the reading. It's better to study close reading now when your in high school so it doesn't have to be hard while in college. I also feel as though if you don't understand a word you should look it up. Understanding a word also helps you understand the text more better. When I read a book and don't know what a word mean I look it up in a dictionary so I can know what the author is actually saying.For example my mom was the one who taught me to do that, because she would ask me what the book I was reading was about and I couldn't really explain it to her because I didn't understand what a certain word meant. So this is why I think close reading is an important skill to have in college.
