Close reading , it involes paying attention and really grasping the idea, concept, and details of a story, even if it requires you to read through the piece of literature two or three times. It is a very good skill to have in general life, though in school life it is a very special and helpful tool to have. Just incase you were wondering, college is one of the most important times in your life where close reading is most effective ! When we close read, it gives us a chance to actually pull things out of the story and evaluate whats really going on, when yu just read normally or skim through you can barely get the concept of literatue if its at a hard reading level, like college. In college, students are required to write at an advanced level , without being able to actually close read, you probably won't be able to write a detailed enough peice of work. Close reading may get annoying, frustrating, or even make you mad , but at the end you should get a very detailed description of what the story you read is really about, which leads to thinking and then learning and then actaully putting ywhat you learned in your work, so yes close reading is one of the most important aspects in the life of a college student.
